New episode of VSB After the Bell: Winter festivities

Episode 4

It’s time to get festive! This is our first-ever holiday episode of VSB After The Bell – and just in time for the winter break.

Everyone celebrates the holidays differently, and with the Vancouver School District’s diverse student population, students and staff have the unique opportunity to embrace diversity and learn about each other’s traditions.

In our latest episode of VSB After The Bell, we go live on location at Hastings, Thunderbird, Nightingale and Hudson Elementary schools to speak with students on how they celebrate winter celebrations at school. We also sit down with their teachers who talk about the importance of incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum throughout the holiday season.

We get some one-one-one time with the executive members of the Vancouver District Students’ Council (VDSC) and ask them for their perspectives on celebrating winter festivities in high school. They also talk about their most treasured initiative during the holiday season called The Canley Cup.

In our reoccurring segment called “Matter of the Month,” we talk to Victoria Jung, VSB Board Chair about the Board’s decision to reinstate the School Liaison Officer (SLO) program.
