VSB Earthquake Response

The Vancouver School District takes the safety of students and staff extremely seriously. As noted by provincial authorities and the City of Vancouver, the December 29 earthquake, which was reported to be between 4.3 and 4.8 magnitude, caused no damage to buildings or infrastructure.

Building engineers at Vancouver Schools have conducted visual inspections of the interior and exterior perimeters of all schools and confirm they have found no evidence of any damage related to Tuesday's tremor.

Schools will open as scheduled on Monday, January 4, with no evidence of any change in the safety level of the buildings.

For parents who want more information on how to prepare their homes for an earthquake, the City of Vancouver has information and workshops available through the link below.
