Britannia Secondary School recently hosted its first SFU Beedie School of Business Case Competition in the school's historic auditorium. Students from Eric Hamber, Burnaby North, St. John's, and A.R. MacNeill joined the host school in a fierce competition that involved analyzing a real life business problem and presenting a solution to a panel of judges from Beedie and from industry.

"We are honoured to be the first Vancouver school to host this prestigious event," said Lee Nipp, Britannia's head of the business education department. "I wanted to introduce my business students to case competitions because many of them will eventually participate in them at the post-secondary level at schools like Sauder, Beedie, and BCIT." 

"These are the opportunities that challenge and motivate my students to reach a new level of achievement," echoed Veronica Lo, MacNeill's business teacher.  "It is also a very rewarding experience for a teacher to see it all unfold."

The competition is an opportunity for students to collobarte with other schools and develop their business knowledge in a way that challenges them outside of the typical academic opportunity.

"With these opportunities, students gain industry knowledge and get to connect with individuals who are currently working in the business sector," noted Stefanie Schoenfelder, business teacher at  Hamber.

 St. John's students took first place, with MacNeill students in a close second. Congratulations to all the students who participated.
