Facilities

The Facilities Division is comprised of the following departments and service areas.

Grounds

The Grounds Department is responsible for the care, maintenance, and enhancement of school gardens, playgrounds, fencing, sports fields, and outdoor learning and recreational spaces across the district. Our dedicated team works year-round to create safe, welcoming, and beautiful environments that support learning, recreation, and community connection.

Through responsible stewardship of our grounds, we support vibrant school communities that promote health, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

Leasing and Facilities Rentals

Leasing and Child Care

Leasing is responsible for the administration of the District's lease and license agreements, property partnerships and strategic leasing initiatives. Staff also provide centralized support for the District's child care protfolio, including the creation of licensed child care spaces and the ongoing administration and coordination of child care facilities and occupancy agreements.

Facility Rentals

Facility Rentals coordinates community use of district facilities outside of school hours. Staff administer rental applications, bookings and permits for available school spaces.

Maintenance & Construction 

The Maintenance and Construction department is responsible for building and grounds' maintenance and alteration projects. Department staff also work with building engineers for minor repairs and ongoing routine services.

Operations 

The Operations department oversees interior building management and maintenance. This includes building security, heating, cleaning, indoor air quality, minor repairs and safety inspections. 

Planning

The Planning Department is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of capital projects.  This includes land acquisition, construction and development of new schools and major renovations to existing schools.

Sustainability  

The Sustainability Department is responsible for annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting and coordinating energy management, sustainability and climate change initiatives. Sustainability staff is also responsible for implementing the Environment Sustainability Plan.

Vancouver Project Office (VPO)

The VPO is responsible for the project management of seismic upgrade and replacement projects of the District under the Seismic Mitigation Program (SMP) as well as of the new schools under the Expansion Program. VPO staff coordinates with other District departments for the long-term viability of the facilities.
