Killarney Riverview High Musical Explores Acceptance and Diversity

Killarney Secondary School staff say they are delighted to announce the high school premiere of "Riverview High: the Musical"

The innovative new musical, inspired by comic book characters and set in 1996, explores relationships and human nature in the realm of high school, and how students can let their true self shine amidst conflicting voices.

The original musical took Vancouver by storm by winning the Pick of the Fringe at the International Fringe Festival in 2012, earning several Ovation Awards and returning by popular demand in 2013 at the Firehall Theatre.

"The reason this project is so special is that the play has a very important message about diversity and acceptance," says Killarney teacher Kristin Mattock. "It was created for the fringe festival in Vancouver three years ago, to high acclaim, and the Killarney team has since worked with the writers to develop the high school version that will premier at Killarney."

Killarney Film and Theatre Department teachers say the production is the result of a lot of hard work by drama teachers, mentors, and students.

The performances run at 7pm nightly (excluding weekends) from January 27th - February 5th.
