VSB Superintendent of Schools leaving the district

Vancouver, B.C., June 5, 2017 - Vancouver School Board announced today that Superintendent Scott Robinson will be leaving his position effective June 9, 2017.

"My passion as an educator has always been to collaborate with and empower my colleagues, staff and parents to work together to do what is right for our students," said Mr. Robinson. "Increasingly over the past year, it became more challenging to retain focus on this. I leave the VSB with the opportunity to recruit a new superintendent and have a fresh start in rebuilding relationships and leading Vancouver into the future."

Superintendent Robinson confirmed that he is leaving the district in a letter to Official Trustee Dianne Turner, in which he noted the excellent working relationship they had developed, and conveyed his appreciation for her support and leadership over the past year. He added that she has worked tirelessly to change the tenor in the workplace to create an atmosphere of trust and respect.

"I'm saddened that Superintendent Robinson will be leaving the district," said Ms. Turner. "We share a common goal with district employees and families: to do what's best for our students and children. In his years with VSB, Scott has contributed to strengthening the district through his collaborative, respectful and student-centred approach. On behalf of all of us at VSB, I want to acknowledge the excellent work of the superintendent over the years."

While a search is conducted for a new superintendent, John Lewis has agreed to return as Interim Superintendent.
